MISSION STATEMENT

The Company program works to challenge our dancers to improve their technique, skills and creativity, build teamwork, develop sportsmanship, and provide additional performance opportunities.

EXPECTATIONS

Being part of the Company requires talent, commitment, dedication, passion, hard work, an eagerness to learn, and a desire to perform and grow as a dancer. And what your child will gain from the experience in Company is priceless—as both a dancer and an individual.

  • Arrive at your technique classes and competition rehearsals on time, properly dressed, and with a positive attitude.
  • Please inform your instructor when you will be absent from class.
  • Respect your instructors. They are there to help you become a better dancer and performer. You will accomplish this by following the instructor's directions, being attentive, and being open to all corrections. Giving 100% effort will not only help your growth as a dancer, but will also strengthen the entire class.
  • Respect other team members. You may accomplish this by being cooperative and helpful. Be friendly to all Company members so that a "team" atmosphere is created.
  • Respect your parents. You may accomplish this by working hard in class and sharing your experiences with them. A thank you note to your parents for their support would be a nice way to show your gratitude.
  • Respect yourself. You may accomplish this by eating right, getting plenty of rest, and not pushing yourself too hard. Keep your goals in perspective by looking at your own personal growth rather than comparing yourself to others.
  • Honor your commitment to the Dance Factory Company.

PRODUCTION

All Company dancers are required to participate in the studio production number. Please keep in mind that when you are filling out your registration form, the production number is NOT included in the "total of # of dances you are willing to participate in".

For example: If you mark that you would be willing to participate in 3 dances (and you are placed in 3 dances) the production will be added to this. Your total would be 4 dances.

PRODUCTION REHEARSALS

We are excited once again to welcome Derrick Schrader and Keri LaGrand back to the Dance Factory to set our production number for the 2018 competition season!!
They will be setting the number during August Training Camp this summer.

Dancers will be learning the production choreography during Training Camp, however we will be having rehearsal on the following Sunday's to work on cleaning the production. Please mark these days off on your calendar, attendance is mandatory. We will provide a more detailed schedule for the Sunday rehearsals at a later date.

  • Sunday, November 12th
  • Sunday, December 10th

Production choreography and rehearsal fee of $200 per dancer is due July 1st.

SOLOS, DUOS & TRIOS

Company dancers are eligible to participate in extra solo, duo, trio or group dances for the 2018 competition season. The dancers may select who they would like to dance with, what style they want the dance to be and who they would like to choreograph the number. However, EVERY DANCE MUST BE TEACHER APPROVED. If the faculty feels the dancers are not ready for a particular style of dance or for the challenge of something like a solo, we will make other suggestions as to what would be a better "fit" for the dancers. There is a chance that we will not allow some dancers to participate in extra dances. If this situation occurs we will provide an explanation as to why we feel those dancers are not ready to compete extra numbers.

The faculty is limited with the amount of time they can devote to extra dances and would like to start working out their schedules well in advance. Therefore, we will begin taking requests for extra dances for the 2018 dance season on April 30th. Requests should be e-mailed to the teacher being asked to choreograph the number. Any requests made before this date WILL NOT be answered until after April 30th. The FINAL DAY to request an extra dance will be August 15th. This deadline will allow for the teachers to have ample time to work out scheduling for next year.

Decisions will be made by the end of July regarding the total number of extra dances your dancer may participate in.

A $5 processing fee will be charged for each extra dance entry fee per competition.

ATTENDANCE

The Competition Company is a BIG commitment, and we expect the Company dancers to take their attendance very seriously.

  • REHEARSALS

Dancers are allowed two absenses per rehearsal for the entire season. It is the dancer's responsibility to stay caught up with the dances if they miss a rehearsal. Oftentimes, we will rehearse dances during the week and these rehearsals are considered part of the attendance policy as well. If a dancer misses a rehearsal they are expected to watch the video and be completely caught up/prepared when they return.

  • 1st absence - Dancer receives a warning if they come unprepared for their next rehearsal.

  • 2nd absence - Parent/Guardian will be notified if the dancer comes unprepared for their next rehearsal.

  • 3rd absence - Dancer will be removed from a portion or all of a competition dance of the faculty's choice if the dancer comes unprepared for their next rehearsal.

  • WEEKLY CORE AND ADDITIONAL CLASSES

Dancers are allowed one absence per class per month.

  • 2nd absence - Dancer and parent/guardian receives notification after their 2nd absence in order to secure a make-up schedule. If the dancer does not fulfill their make-up schedule they will be removed from a portion or all of a competition dance of the faculty's choice.
