COMPANY DESCRIPTIONS

JUNIOR COMPANY (3rd-5th grade dancers)
Dancers in 2nd grade who have mastered the following skills may be considered for our Junior Company:
- Battements with straight legs, pointed feet, and correct arm placement
- Single pirouettes with, correct passe position, high releve, straight supporting leg, arms in first (Working towards double pirouettes)
- Clean sautés de chats (leaps), two runs, legs straight, chest lifted, correct arm placement
- Working towards straight leg splits both right and left
- Stage presence (eyes up and appropriate facial expressions at all times)

 

TEEN COMPANY (6th-8th grade dancers)
Dancers in 5th grade who have mastered the following skills may be considered for our Teen Company:
- Battements and tilts with straight legs, pointed feet, and correct arm placement
- Double pirouettes with, correct passe position, high releve, straight supporting leg, arms in first (Working towards triple pirouettes)
- 3 turns in second position with a clean double pirouette, correct body position and alignment
- Clean sautés de chats/ chaine jetés with correct leg and arm alignment
- Straight leg, right and left splits
- Stage presence (eyes up and appropriate facial expressions at all times)

 

SENIOR COMPANY (High School dancers)
Dancers in 7th or 8th grade who have mastered the following skills may be considered for our Senior Company:
- Battements and tilts with straight legs, pointed feet, and correct arm placement
- Battement into a leg hold with straight legs, pointed feet, and correct technique and balance for 16 counts
- Triple pirouettes with, correct passe position, high releve, straight supporting leg, arms in first (Working towards 4+ pirouettes)
- 16 counts of turns in second position with a clean double pirouette into an advanced leap, correct body position and alignment
- Clean sautés de chats, chaine jetés, side leaps and turning disc with correct leg and arm alignment
- Straight leg, right and left splits
- Stage presence (eyes up and appropriate facial expressions at all times)

If your dancer is not ready for the Company program we will provide feedback as to what steps to take.


AUDITIONS

Audition fee is $50 and $45 registration fee due on May 13th.

The dancers chosen for the 2019/2020 Company will be posted on the website on Monday, June 10th.  The dances for the 2018/2019 competition season will be posted on the website by Sunday July, 7th.

If a dancer is unable to attend the auditions, or is asked to join the Company after the June auditions the $50 audition fee will not be waived. -- JUNE 6TH - NATIONAL COMPANY AUDITIONS (Dancers will be required to learn additional choreography for jazz, contemporary and open dances)

  • Dancers may audition for any style - jazz, contemporary, or open
  • Dancers will learn choreography on the spot for their jazz audition
  • Dancers will learn choreography on the spot for their contemporary audition
  • Open group auditions will have the following skills and requirements within the choreography:
  • **OPEN GROUP LEVEL 1** In order to audition for a LEVEL 1 open dance, you must be able to complete (with proper technique and form) two acro + one additional trick from the following list: two or three runs into a side aerial, back walkover, standing back handspring, triple pirouette, three turns in second into a double pirouette. These skills will be completed within the choreography. 
  • **OPEN GROUP LEVEL 2** In order to audition for a LEVEL 2 open dance, you must be able to complete (with proper technique and form) two acro + two additional tricks from the following list: two or three runs into a front aerial, hurdle/side aerial (no extra steps), standing back handspring, round-off back handspring, headspring, kip-up, quadruple pirouette, seven turns in second into a triple pirouette. These skills will be completed within the choreography.

SUMMER CLASSES

All Regional and National Company dancers are required to attend 30 hours of summer classes, but encouraged to take ALL of the classes. Summer is a great time for dancers to really focus on their technique. Please be sure to purchase classes through our online STORE

TRAINING CAMP

Training Camp dates and information coming soon!! Training Camp features classes in jazz, tap, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, stretch & strength, turns and leaps and more, taught by professional choreographers. Training Camp is required for both Regional and National Companies. 

Training Camp fee of $275 is due July 1st.


PROFESSIONALLY CHOREOGRAPHED DANCES

During Training Camp dates we will have choreographers set some competition numbers on our Company dancers. These dancers will be be selected by the faculty during the 2019/20 Company Auditions. The dancers selected are required to attend any scheduled rehearsals during Training Camp. There is a one time choreography fee required to particiapte in a professionally choreographed dance. Both Regional and Naitional Company dancers are elegible to be selected for choreographed dances. 

Choreography fees range from $250 - $350 and are due August 1st.


WEEKLY CORE COMPANY CLASSES

**Dancers are allowed one absence per class, per month**

Regional and National Company dancers will be dancing two-three days during the week and Saturdays. All of our Company dancers will be enrolled in the CORE class requirements. All other classes dancers wish to enroll in are listed under Additional Class Options. The Company dancers do not participate in online enrollment, the faculty will enroll them in the appropriate classes after auditions.

Tuition is due by the 5th of each month September - May. Tuition will be automaticall debited from your account. Any tutition not received by the 7th of each month will be subject to a $15 late fee.

Company Dancers may choose to enroll in any of the following classes in addition to their CORE Class Requirements. Please be sure to mark which classes you'd like to enroll in on your Parent Consent Form.

45 MIN  TRICKS & ACRO

This class is a technical class for students who want to take their skills to another level. Students will work on the correct execution of leaps, jumps and tricks. Dancers will work on acro technique as well as strength and flexibility.

45 MIN

HIP HOP & JAZZ FUNK COMBO

Students will focus on hip hop and jazz funk techniques and choregraphy. Style will vary weekly.
30 MIN TAP TECHNIQUE (REQUIED FOR NATIONAL COMPANY DANCERS)

Students will focus on tap techniques and choreography to all types of music styles from traditional to contemporary.

45 MIN

PRE-POINTE CLASS

This class is required of dancers on pointe, open to Company dancers age 9 and up. See SPECIAL NOTE below.
1 HOUR

POINTE CLASS

This class is required for all dancers on pointe. See SPECIAL NOTE below.
1 HOUR COMPANY BALLET (REQUIRED FOR NATIONAL COMPANY DANCERS) This class is designed for students wanting to take an additional ballet class during the week. This class will be on a night separate from regular Company classes!

STABILITY & FLEXIBILITY (REQUIRED FOR NATIONAL COMPANY DANCERS) This class is designed to help students improve their flexibility and core strength. 


SPECIAL NOTE:
In order to be considered for pointe classes next year, you must take the scheduled summer pointe classes. Any dancer will be considered for pre-pointe or pointe class, however, only dancers ages 11 and up will be evaluated for pointe shoes. If your dancer is under the age of 11, or not chosen to purchase pointe shoes at this time, they may still participate in a class, but in their flat ballet shoes. If you are interested in pre-pointe or pointe class for next year you must email Miss Megan at This email address is being protected from spambots. REHEARSALS & REHEARSAL FEES

MOST rehearsals will be on Saturday's between 8 am and 6 pm, however some dances may rehearse during the week. A detailed schedule of the rehearsal times will be given at a later date.

REGIONAL COMPANY

  • Regional Company dancers are allowed to miss two rehearsals per semester.
  • If a dancer misses a rehearsal they are expected to watch the video and be completely caught up/prepared when they return.

NATIONAL COMPANY

  • National Company dancers are allowed to miss one rehearsals per semester.
  • If a dancer misses a rehearsal they are expected to watch the video and be completely caught up/prepared when they return.
  • If a dancer fails to come prepared to a rehearsal more than once, they will be removed from a portion or all of that particlar dance.
  • No refunds will be given if a dancer is completely removed from the dance. 

Rehearsal fees are paid per dance, regardless of how often, when or where the dance rehearses.

Rehearsal fees are $125 per dance and will be split into 2 payments. Rehearsal fees for dances #1-4 are due September 15th. Rehearsal Fees for dances any dances not paid in September are due October 15th.

*Some rehearsals may begin in July or August. Any dances beginning rehearsals in July or August will incur a $20 rehearsal fee per dancer. 


PRODUCTION

All Company dancers are required to participate in the studio production number. Please keep in mind that when you are filling out your registration form, the production number is NOT included in the "total of # of dances you are willing to participate in." For example: If you mark that you would be willing to participate in 3 dances (and you are placed in 3 dances) the production will be added to this. Your total would be 4 dances.

PRODUCTION REHEARSALS

Dancers will be learning the production choreography during Training Camp, however we will be having rehearsals on the following Sundays to work on cleaning the Production. Please mark these days on your calendar, attendance is mandatory. We will provide a more detailed schedule for the Sunday rehearsals at a later date.

This year, our Production number will be professionally choreographed. There will be a one time choreography fee of $75-$100 per dancer due August 1st. 


REGIONAL COMPANY

  • 2 Regional Competitions in the Kansas City area
  • 1-2 Regional Conventions in the Midwest
  • *Optional* - National Final event every other summer (Cash Awards event- Tremaine - Summer 2020)
  • All fees will be due four months prior to scheduled competition dates.
  • The dancers will be required to travel on Friday of Conventions so that we can rehearse dances at the hotel on Friday evenings. It is recommended to stay overnight at the hosting hotel due to classes being held on both Saturday and Sunday.
  • It is a possibility that our dances may compete on Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday.
  • We will receive the competition schedule approximately one week before the competition date.

Estimated Convention Fees = $250-$300
Estimated Competition Entry Fees = $45-65 ($110-$135 for solos)
A $35 directors/processing fee will be charged for each convention and competition

 

 

NATIONAL COMPANY

COSTUMES

General costume fees range from $100 to $275 per dance.
Custom made costume fees range from $200-$325 per dance. 

Typically Hip Hop costumes are much less expensive than Tap, Contemporary and Jazz costumes. Custom made costumes tend to be more expensive due to extra labor. 

Costume fees will cover costumes, rhinestones, headpieces and accessories. Rhinestones and accessories may be billed separately. You will be responsible for rhinestoning your dancer's costume or you may pay one of the Faculty members to help you.  There will be an additional fee if you choose to have someone else rhinestone your dancer's costume!

Some costume pieces, headpieces or accessories may be rented for the season. Rentals must be returned at the end of the dance season. Dancers will be billed for the full amount of any rental not returned at the end of the season.

Costume fees will be broken down into 4 seperate payments:

  • June 1st - A costume deposit of $300 per dancer is due for dances #1-3
  • July 15th - A costume deposit of $200 per dancer is due for dances #4-5
  • August 15th - A costume deposit of $100 per dance is due for dances #6+
  • October 2019 - January 2020 - Once each costume is finalized, dancers will be billed for the remainder of their costume expenses. You will receive an email when your costume fee has been applied to your account. Balances are due upon receipt.

SOLOS, DUOS & TRIOS

JUNIOR COMPANY

  • Junior Company dancers may participate in 1-2, teacher approved, solos/duos/trios
  • Combination of extra dances may be: 1 solo + 1 duo OR 1 solo +1 trio
  • If the faculty feels the dancers are not ready for a particular style of dance or for the challenge of something like an extra dance, we will make other suggestions as to what would be a better "fit" for the dancers.
  • There is a chance that we will not allow some dancers to participate in extra dances. If this situation occurs we will provide an explanation as to why we feel those dancers are not ready to compete extra numbers.
  • Extra dance requests may begin on May 1st - no sooner.
  • Extra dance requests will be acceptied until August 1st - no later. 
  • Dancer must be enrolled in the combo class of the style they wish to perform a solo, duo or trio.
  • Solos/duos/trios will not be competed at any Convention that we attend as a studio (exception is Tremaine Cash Awards)

COMPANY EXTRAS

Dancers may be required to purchase the following items:

  • Company Jackets - $100-$125 (Highly Recommended)
  • Company Makeup - Price TBD *new this year* (Required)
  • Eyelashes - $5-$10 (Required) 
  • Chokers - $35-$40
  • Earrings - $11-$15 per pair
  • Shoes - $50-$85 per pair
  • Tights - $15-25 per pair (dancers must have multiple pairs on hand - tights with holes will not be allowed on stage!) 

CONCERT DATES & FEES

The Company Concert will be held in January of 2020 and the Spring Concert will be in May of 2020. Specific dates are TBA. Each family must be willing to pay a Concert fee for each show to help pay for the rental of the facility, programs, etc.

January Concert fee is $50 due October 1st.

Spring Concert fee is $50 due February 1st.
