2020 Performance Company Details

MISSION STATEMENT

The Performance Company program provides an opportunity for dancers to perform at local events as well as 2 regional competitions while building strong technique, confidence and a strong sense of teamwork.  This program is designed to be an introduction to competition in a fun and supportive environment. Being a member of the Performance Company requires dedication, passion, hard work, an eagerness to learn, and a desire to perform and grow as a dancer.

EXPECTATIONS

In order to have a cohesive company, certain expectations are required. Some of the expectations are:

  • good attendance
  • arriving for all classes on time
  • wearing the appropriate dance attire
  • being a good role model for the younger dancers as well as your fellow class members 


AUDITIONS

The Performance Company Auditions will be held in two separate audition times on Thursday, May 16th. This will be a jazz audition.

  • Dancers going into 3rd-5th grade = 5-5:45pm
  • Dancers going into 6th grade - high school = 5:45-6:30pm

The $25 audition fee and $45 registration fee is due on Thursday, May 16th.

The dancers chosen for the 2019/2020 Performance Company will be posted on the website on Monday, June 3rd.  The dances for the 2019/2020 Performance Company season will be posted on the website on Friday, July 5th.

If a dancer is unable to attend the auditions, or is asked to join the Company after the auditions the $25 audition fee will not be waived. PERFORMANCE COMPANY HIP HOP CREW

Performance Company dancers may participate in Hip Hop Crew for the 2019/2020 Competition season. There are no auditions or forms to fill out for Hip Hop Crew. If you are interested in only joining Hip Hop Crew, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

This dance will be rehearsed during the week, but dancers must be willing to attend an extra rehearsal outiside of their regularly scheduled hip hop class! The dancers may be split into groups based on age AND abilty.

A one time rehearsal fee is required for the Hip Hop Crew, regardless of how often and/or when the dance rehearses.

  • Hip Hop Crew is required to take four hip hop classes this summer
  • Hip Hop Crew is required to take one Training Camp hip hop class this summer ($25) 

The rehearsal fee for the Hip Hop Crew dance is $125 per dancer, due on September 1st.

 


SUMMER CLASSES

Summer Classes will be held Monday-Thursday evenings. Performance Company dancers are required to attend 15 summer classes in July, but encouraged to take ALL the classes. Summer is a great time for the dancers to really focus on their technique.

WEEKLY CORE CLASSES

The Performance Company dancers will be dancing 1-2 days during the week. All of our Company dancers will be enrolled in the CORE class requirements (jazz, production and technique). All other classes the dancers may wish to enroll in are listed under Additional Class Options. The Performance Company dancers participate in online enrollment for the Additional Class Options, the faculty will enroll them in the appropriate CORE classes after auditions.

Tuition is due by the 1st of each month September - May. Any tutition not received by the 7th of each month will be subject to a $15 late fee.

CLASSES BEGIN SEPTEMBER 3RD

 

PERFORMANCE COMPANY CORE CLASS REQUIREMENTS

45 MINUTES

TECHNIQUE-This class will focus on improving the dancers flexibility, core strength as well as dance skills.  The class will be a combination of stretch and strength and turns and leaps and will vary weekly.

JAZZ- This class will focus on smaller competition dances and community performance opportunities.

PRODUCTION REHEARSAL- This class will focus on learning and cleaning the PC Production dance.  This year Production will be a JAZZ dance!!

2.25 TOTAL HOURS PER WEEK = $90 PER MONTH

 


ADDITIONAL CLASS OPTIONS

Performance Company Dancers may choose to enroll in any of the following classes in addition to their CORE Class Requirements.

BALLET/TECHNIQUE-  This class is designed to help dancers to improve and strengthen their technique.  This class will not perform in the Spring Concert. This class is strongly recommended for all dancers

Our 2019 - 2020 Performance Company season will run from mid August – end of May. We are pleased offer discounts for dancers taking classes in addition to their CORE class requirements.

When using the tuition scale below be sure to include your CORE requirements into your total hours per week.

COMPETITIONS

The dancers must be willing to participate in two regional competitions. All fees will be due 4 months prior to the scheduled competition dates. We will select two Competitions in the Kansas City area. Once all of the dates are available for the 2019/2020 season we will determine where the dancers will compete. If you have any date conflicts in 2020, please be sure to let us know when you fill out your registration form.

It is a possibility that our dances may compete on Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday. We will receive the competition schedule approximately one week before the competition date.

Estimated entry fees:

Group $40-$65 per entry. A $35 directors/procesing fee will be charged for each competition.


COMPETITION DANCES & FEES

  • All Performance Company dancers will be placed in a class jazz dance
  • All Performance Company dancers will be required to participate in the ALL Company Production Number

There is no rehearsal fee for the production number or the class jazz dances. These dances will be learned in the dancers' weekly PC Core Classes.

PERFORMANCE COMPANY HIP HOP CREW

Performance Company dancers may participate in an extra Hip Hop dance for the 2019/2020 Competition season. There is a section on the Performance Company registration form where you will mark if would like your dancer to participate in the Hip Hop crew dance.

This dance will be rehearsed during the week, but dancers must be willing to attend an extra rehearsal outiside of their regularly scheduled PC CORE classes! The dancers may be split into groups based on age AND abilty. 

A one time rehearsal fee is required for the Hip Hop dance, regardless of how often and/or when the dance rehearses.

The rehearsal fee for the Hip Hop Crew dance is $125 per dancer, due on September 1st. 


COSTUMES FOR COMPETITION DANCES

The costume fee for EACH Performance Company Competition costume will be between $100-$150.  This will include any gloves and hairpieces needed. 

SPECIAL NOTE:

We will add rhinestones to some of our Performance Company costumes! After the cost of the costume has been finalized, if the cost is under $150 we may decide to add some rhinestones to the costume.  The cost of the costume with the addition of the rhinestones will not exceed $150. You will be responsible for rhinestoning your dancer's costume or you may pay one of the Faculty memebers to help you.  There will be an additional fee if you choose to have someone else rhinestone your dancer's costume!

Costume fees will be broken down into 2 or 3 seperate payments:

  • June 1st - A costume deposit of $200 per dancer is due.
  • July 15th - Dancers placed in Hip Hop Crew will have an additional $100 costume deposit due.
  • October 2019 - March 2020 - Once each costume is finalized, dancers will be billed for the remainder of their costume expenses. You will receive an email when your costume fee has been applied to your account. Balances are due upon receipt. May Concert costume fees are due November 19th. Costumes cannot be taken home until they are paid for. No exceptions. 

CONCERT DATES & FEES

The Company Concert will be held in January of 2020 and the Spring Concert will be in the spring of 2020. Specific dates are TBA.

Each family must be willing to pay a Concert fee for each show to help pay for the rental of the facility, programs, etc.

Spring Concert fee is $50 due Feburay 1st.

Company Concert fee is $50 due October 1st.


TRAINING CAMP

Training Camp will be held on two seperate weekends in August. A detailed scheduled will be available in late July or early August.

  • Performance Company dancers will be required to take a total of three Training Camp Classes of their choice. 
  • Hip Hop Crew dancers will be required to take one Hip Hop class.

Training Camp fee is $75 due August 1st.

PERFORMANCE COMPANY BACK TO DANCE NIGHT

PERFORMANCE COMPANY EXTRAS

Dancers may be required to purchase the following items:

  • Company Jackets - $100-$125 (Highly Recommended)
  • Company Makeup - Price TBD *new this year* (Required)
  • Eyelashes - $5-$10 (Required) 
  • Chokers - $35-$40
  • Earrings - $11-$15 per pair
  • Shoes - $50-$85 per pair
  • Tights - $15-25 per pair (dancers must have multiple pairs on hand - tights with holes will not be allowed on stage!)


CONVENTIONS

We do not require our Performance Company Dancers to attend a Convention, however we would like to strongly encourage you to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!  The Convention weekend consists of 2-3 days of classes in all the different styles of dance and are taught by some of the most talented choreographers across the country.  The Performance Company dancers that have attended in the past have not only learned a lot from the classes but have made memories with their teammates that will last a lifetime! This may require the dancers to travel and spend the night in a hotel.

The estimated cost for the convention classes is $250-$275.

A $35 directors/processing fee will be added to each convention fee.


ATTENDANCE

The Performance Company is a big commitment, and we expect the dancers and their parents to take their attendance very seriously.

The dance season is a August - May time commitment. We ask that you refrain from participating in other activites that conflict with regularly scheduled classes and/or rehearsals for the ENTIRE season.

There is no attendance policy for the Performance Company dancers, HOWEVER it is strongly recommended that they miss no more than 1 time per month. 

If a dancer begins to fall behind in class or rehearsal due to absences, a parent or guardian will be notified.  At this time a recommendation for private lessons may be suggested to help the dancer catch up. There will be an additional fee for private lessons.

If a dancer is unable to attend classes regularly, he or she may be removed from a portion of a dance or the entire dance at any point in the season. (This will be left up to the discretion of the teacher of the dance)  A Parent/Guardian will be notified before the removal takes place.    No refunds for costumes or entry fees will be given.

Attendance for community performances is not mandatory, but it is highly encouraged that Performance Company dancers take advantage of every performance opportunity.

Attendance at scheduled competitions is MANDATORY.   If a dancers chooses not to attend a scheduled competition, he or she will be removed from the Performance Company for the remainder of the season.  (Illness and family emergencies are excused absences.)  Please notify a faculty member if your dancer is unable to compete.  No refunds for costumes or entry fees will be given.
